For me, the Photo-a-Day Project is a challenge to become just a slightly better photographer. I doubt I'll ever find myself taking as wonderful photos as Carrie or Marilena, but practice makes...potentially better. Admittedly, this project is also a little about scrapbooking. Way back when, I promised myself I would take more photos at "regular" events and on average days so I could chronicle our life in genuine way. Yeah, that didn't happen. In fact, I've only scrapbooked once in the last several months. Granted, it has more to do with my busy work schedule than with a lack of motivation, but still. After scrapbooking the other day, I came away with 12 glorious pages of...Christmas. Old habits die hard.
So when I got the email inviting me to participate in the Photo-a-Day Project, I jumped on board. I'm allowing myself a little leeway. (If I forget or miss a day, the world will end even less than it ended on December 21, 2012.) I'm hoping, though, that when December 31, 2013 rolls around, I'll have a wealth of memories to share and a big fat scrapbook album to finish.

I think you could do a week or month or semester in the life of an English Teacher! How fun it might be to chronicle one of your classes?
ReplyDeleteI actually thought about something like that! I will definitely think about it...I'd probably have to get permission slips signed. Not sure how the Yemeni girls would feel about it. They're really sensitive about their pictures being taken. Let's brainstorm tomorrow night!
ReplyDeleteI've always been intrigued by a 365 day challenge, and I just got a new phone that would make this much easier. Add in a little flattery (thanks for that), and I am seriously tempted. Maybe I'll jump in on my birthday next month...
ReplyDeleteSo far, it's been fun! Granted, only 2 days have passed, but it's quite challenging to remember to pull out that camera (or phone) to snap a picture that tells a story of the day. I hope to start thinking outside the box, possibly take some pictures of the textures that speak to me or the changes in the weather, instead of just taking obvious pics. I'm thinking it's an inevitability that I'll get better and that my brain will move in the right direction. Oh, and by the way...no pressure! I didn't link you to as a ploy to get you to join me. I think you've really evolved into a great photographer. It's the artist in you! :)
